Employability Training Programme

Getting a job is more than just about having the right qualifications and experience for the position. Employers also look for all important “soft” skills. These include attitude, reliability, confidence and communication. For a potential employee, these are just as relevant as “hard” skills such as IT and telephone techniques. This is because employers find it easier to teach hard skills whereas prospective employees need to possess the soft skills before they are ready for employment.

With this in mind, KCRT developed the Employability Training Programme which places emphasis on soft skills and enables participants to have the right confidence and attitude in order to build the foundations for the later preparations for employment (e.g. interview and telephone techniques). Our soft skills training places emphasis on making choices. The programme also helps in dealing with change and coping with the fear which inevitably arises when confronting new situations such as finding a new job. The training also includes sessions on getting and staying motivated, assertiveness, effective communication as well as dealing with difficult situations. These soft skills are then be put into practice when sessions focus on hard skills. For example, training on telephone techniques may incorporate past learning on assertiveness and dealing with difficult situations. By developing strategies to deal with potential problems before they occur, clients will not only find work, they will keep work.

This training programme covers the following:

- Introduction and Course presentation
- Identifying local barriers, problems and concerns

- Communication Skills

- Time keeping
- Telephone techniques
- Spelling Tests
